G4G launched its clothing services in 2020 in response to an urgent need: when buses began arriving in DC with migrants from the southern border, we met them with basic clothing packages. Shortly after, we partnered with SAMU First Response to open full-scale clothing pantries at their migrant support centers in Rockville and, later, on Capitol Hill.
Since that initial response, our work has grown to serve an even broader community—and now includes toy distributions, because no child should go without safe, developmentally appropriate toys and games.
Every week, generous neighbors donate hundreds of pounds of gently used or new clothing and toys. At G4G HQ, dedicated volunteers carefully sort and organize these donations to ensure thoughtful and equitable distribution to those who need them most:
- Newly resettled refugees and asylum seekers
- Families living in shelters or transitioning into permanent housing
- Low-income individuals
- Isolated seniors
- And more
G4G clothing and toy support includes:
- Supplying toys at partner nonprofits serving children with common rooms
- Fulfilling customized clothing requests from individuals, nonprofits, and caseworkers
- Stocking clothing closets at partner organizations for their clients
- Hosting monthly neighborhood pop-up shops at low-income housing sites
At G4G, we’re committed to meeting essential needs with dignity and care.
G4G welcomes donations of gently used or new clothing and toys throughout the year. You can drop off your items at any of our Ally collection sites for easy, convenient giving.
Thank you for helping us support our community!
