June Project: Making Summer Matter

Washing your hair, cleansing your face, and bathing your body are not luxuries—they are fundamental rights closely tied to overall health and well-being. However, the cost of many hygiene products has risen by approximately 18% due to ongoing inflation, supply chain challenges, and recent import tariffs.

1. Buy items off our wishlist. Items can be purchased from any store but please note preferred brands most requested by the communities we serve, including items that reflect the needs and preferences of people of color.

2. Make a toiletry kit. In a reusable bag, please include one of each of the below. (See wishlist for choices of preferred brands) Shampoo
Conditioner
Lotion
Deodorant
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Body wash

3.  Donate funds for bulk buying. Any amount is appreciated.

4. Remember that with summer volunteerism slower than usual, we especially need your help to provide meals for neighbors facing food insecurity and birthday kits for children living in shelters.

5. And join our Ally team! Allies serve as neighborhood donation drop-off locations, help influence programming, spread the word about G4G, and support our mission. It’s a small commitment with a big impact. Interested? Contact volunteer@goodsforgoodDC.org.

Ongoing Projects

NEW!!! Donate fur coats. G4G will send all unwanted fur clothes to sanctuaries to use in the care of orphaned wildlife. You can drop off at any Ally location.

Celebrate a Child’s Birthday. Create a personalized birthday celebration box for a child living in a shelter. Your thoughtful gift brings joy, dignity, and a sense of normalcy to a child on their special day — and it means the world to their family.

Cook/Make a Meal. Turn your love of food into a powerful act of kindness. Prepare and deliver a homemade meal — whether a full dinner or a set of bagged lunches — for residents at local shelters. It’s a simple way to nourish both bodies and spirits.

Work in our clothing or toy pantry. Please note: the sign ups for the toy and clothing pantry are separate links. All details for all opportunities are on our clothing and toy sign ups.

Donate Clothes and Toys. We are now accepting warm-weather clothing. Please check our lists of most-needed toys and clothes. Please do not drop off unlisted items, as we’re unable to process or store them. We appreciate your support!
