Elizabeth Workman
Founder/Director
Founding Executive Director. Elizabeth graduated from George Washington University (BA) and American University (MA) and has worked in the DC non-profit social service sector for more than 30 years. She worked for ten years at Sasha Bruce Youthwork where she provided services to runaway, homeless, and at-risk youth and their families, and managed various programs including home-based counseling, street outreach, substance abuse prevention, and pregnancy prevention. She also served as Deputy Director of Fair Chance where she focused on strengthening community-based nonprofits that work with children in poverty.  Goods For Good became a true labor of love in 2018, thanks to the endless support of her husband Mark, and two daughters, Maddie and Charlotte


Maria Nagorski
Board Chair

Maria is a recently retired nonprofit leader and has over 30 years of experience in leadership development, capacity building, advocacy, and social justice in the U.S. and internationally. Maria served as Executive Director of Fair Chance, founding Executive Director of the Center for Youth as Resources, and Deputy Director of the National Crime Prevention Council. Her international training work includes Peace Corps, U.N. World Food Program, and International Youth Foundation. She was a member of President Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, is an active member of Leadership Greater Washington, and is a Purpose Prize Fellow. A long-time DC resident, she currently also serves as a Board Member for Open City Advocates and Generation Hope.


Reginald Grant
Treasurer

Reginald graduated from Southeastern University with a B.S. in Nonprofit Management and received a Certificate of Nonprofit Management from Duke University. Before joining Generation Hope, he worked as Capacity Building Program Manager at Fair Chance, an organization that strengthens the sustainability and performance of Washington, DC, community-based nonprofits serving youth affected by poverty. Prior to that post, he served as the National Deputy Director of Youth Programs with the Milton S. Eisenhower Foundation and the Executive Director of the Carver Terrace Youth Safe Haven. Reginald was honored with the Violet Green Caring for Children Award from Edgewood Brookland Family Support Collaborative and was recently named to Washington Business Journal’s 40 under 40 List (2021). He resides in Maryland with his wife, Courtney, and son, RJ, and daughter, Zoey.


Maggie Kennedy
Board Member

Maggie graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University (BA) and  George Washington University (MBA). Maggie retired from a career in public service and non-profit management when she left the See Forever Foundation and Maya Angelou Public Charter Schools in 2018.  During her 20 years of service there, she fulfilled a range of functions in taking a small budding program serving 15 high-school students to a vibrant, nationally recognized organization educating over 500 pre-teens through young adults. Her last role with See Forever was as director of finance and administration at the Maya Angelou Academy located within DC’s juvenile detention center, New Beginnings.  Previous positions included grants administrator for the City of Santa Monica’s community service grants program and director of finance for an international development organization.  As a parent of school-age children, Maggie was an active participant and advocate for improving urban education in DC., the place she has called home for over 40 years. She currently serves on the board of BreakFree Education, an organization committed to improving educational opportunities for detained youth.


Barb Power
Board Member
Barb graduated from Dartmouth College with a BA in Engineering Sciences. She has worked in tech much of her career, developing software and managing both teams and clients at large corporations and start-ups. Barb also served as the Admissions Director for Duke Ellington School of the Arts, where 2 of her 3 children attended high school, developing processes to enhance the admissions process.  Later she rejoined former software colleagues at Fireside 21.  As the Operations Director at Fireside, Barb oversaw daily operations, the technical and client services teams, and client contractual, security & reporting requirements.  Barb has always been fully committed to volunteerism as a daily part of life, which is how she first came to Goods for Good.  She has logged many hours in numerous volunteer capacities, and has served in parent leadership positions in her children’s DCPS schools as well as having chaired multi-year community projects.
