November Project: Keeping Pets in their Homes

Help G4G support the Humane Rescue Alliance’s efforts to get pet supplies to low-income residents in Ward 8. HRA wants to keep pets healthy, happy, and in loving homes — not in shelters. Deadline for participation: November 30.

1. Buy essential supplies for pet care. Purchase from our wishlist (or our neighborhood, woman-owned, independent pet store PetMac).

2. Buy pet food (most needed: wet and dry cat food) and donate gently used towels and blankets. Drop off at any Ally site.

3. From the comfort of your home, make some DIY pet toys for dogs and/or cats. Your kids will love doing this! Drop off at any Ally site.

Ongoing Projects

Create a Birthday Box for a child in a shelter. Through this project, you can provide a family living in a shelter with the items for a true moment of joy and celebration on their child’s birthday. Details including information about what goes in the Birthday Box, dates to sign up, and locations are on the Sign-Up (you can look before committing).

Cook with your heart. Feed residents at area shelters a homemade meal. Learn more about the options and dropping off or serving in person (you can look before committing). If you wish to cook but cannot drop off, sign up and then contact G4G for delivery support.

Help manage our clothing pantries and distribute clothing for migrants, refugees, and other neighbors in need. Sort and organize clothing donations at G4G and the migrant center, and/or help facilitate clothing “pop ups” in the community. Details for all opportunities are on our sign up.

Donate gently used clothing for migrants, refugees, and local families in need. We desperately need handbags, backpacks, and clothes in men’s size medium! Please only donate casual fall/winter items on our requested clothing list. You can drop off clothing donations at any Ally location.
