February Project: Smiles for Seniors

Welcome to our 5th Annual “We Care” gift bags for underserved seniors!  Many low-income seniors are confined to their homes and have minimal social interactions, especially during the winter. We have two ways to support our senior neighbors this month.

1.Bring some extra joy to these seniors’ lives with gift bags filled with hygiene and care products (details are on our sign up, and you can look before committing). Deadline: February 28.

2. “Move It On” gift drive. Did you get gifts this holiday season that you don’t like, can’t use, or just don’t want? G4G can help! G4G will be accepting any brand-new gift items for people of all ages so we can re-distribute them through our “We Care” gift bags or other avenues (like Birthday in a Box, “pop ups,” etc.) Deadline: February 28.

3. Family activity with G4G. Assemble “We Care” gift bags and make handmade cards for seniors. Open to children ages 6-12 years accompanied by a parent/guardian on February 22, 10am-12pm at G4G. Details are on our sign up, and you can look before committing.

Ongoing Projects

Create a Birthday Box for a child in a shelter. Through this project, you can provide a family living in a shelter with the items for a true moment of joy and celebration on their child’s birthday. Details including information about what goes in the Birthday Box, dates to sign up, and locations are on the Sign-Up (you can look before committing).

Cook with your heart. Feed residents at area shelters a homemade meal. Learn more about the options and dropping off or serving in person (you can look before committing). If you wish to cook but cannot drop off, sign up and then contact G4G for delivery support.

Help manage our clothing pantries and distribute clothing for migrants, refugees, and other neighbors in need. Sort and organize clothing donations at G4G and the migrant center, and/or help facilitate clothing “pop ups” in the community. Details for all opportunities are on our sign up.

Donate gently used clothing for migrants, refugees, and local families in need. We will continue accepting only winter clothing through February. In March we will only be accepting spring/summer clothing. You can drop off clothing donations at any Ally location.
